Electrical Trades Person

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Tradesperson at various locations, on a Maximum Term 8-month basis.

About this role


As the Electrical Tradesperson, you will be required to undertake, in a team environment, high voltage construction, maintenance and inspection activities in substations throughout the South West Interconnected Network (SWIN) to maintain the integrity of the network in a safe, reliable and affordable manner and in accordance with customer requirements and all applicable guidelines and regulations. This will include the application of multiple post trade skills and competencies 


Working safely

Be responsible for safety in the work environment and ensure safe work practises are followed and a safe work environment maintained. Understand and operate within Western Power’s Occupational Health and Safety systems and reporting including identifying hazards, taking corrective action and reporting all incidents


Executing construction, maintenance and inspection work

In accordance with manufacturer and Western Power requirements, execute programmed / emergency construction and/or maintenance work based on issued drawings and procedures; carry out testing and inspections as required; mark up drawings as necessary 



Be responsible for work performance and be open to the contributions from others. Work cooperatively within the team and across Western Power.  Maintain open communication with team members and stakeholders


About you


We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:


  • Certificate III Electro-Technology
  • WA ‘A’ Grade Electrical Workers License
  • Valid WA ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence to business requirements
  • Relevant Network Authorisation including Construction industry white card and Basic Emergency Life Support (within the first month of apprenticeship)
  • PC Literacy
  • Valid High Risk licence class EWP (within first 3 months of apprenticeship)
  • Demonstrated industry experience as an Electrical Tradesperson
