Electrical Tradesperson

Electrical Tradesperson – 12 month Fixed Term Contract – Kewdale Depot 

 

To undertake testing, maintenance, and inspection activities. In-particular the repair and maintenance of distribution transformers, LV fuseways and HV switch gear, in a team environment on the distribution electricity network in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner which will ensure supply to customers, and within all applicable guidelines and regulations. This will include the application of multiple post trade skills and competencies.

  • Responsibility for safety in the work environment; ensure safe working practices are followed, attend safety training, and follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Participating in pre-job planning to identify risks, hazards and task variables and control measures to ensure safe, reliable, and affordable job completion.
  • Acting within level of required competency and in accordance with manufacturer and Western Power requirements, execute programmed / emergency construction and/or maintenance work based on issued drawings and procedures; carry out testing and inspections as required; mark up drawings as necessary.
  • Assist in unplanned events and out of the ordinary situations to keep work on schedule and potential impacts on large customer base.
  • Take personal accountability for work performance and be open to other contributions. Work collaboratively within the team and across Western Power to effectively deliver objectives. Maintain open communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate personal behaviours in line with business values, codes, standards, and expectations.
  • Challenge yourself, ask questions, and apply theory learned to practical on the job experiences. Share knowledge and experiences gained in the workplace, classroom, and community group activities with others.
  • Maintaining and enhancing core skills with changing industry standards and business requirements.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit

 

  • Certificate III Electro-Technology
  • WA ‘A’ Grade Electrical Workers License
  • Valid WA ‘C’ Class and ‘MR’ Class Drivers Licence (subject to business requirements)
  • Relevant Network Authorisation including Construction industry white card and Basic Emergency Life Support etc. (must be obtained within the first month of employment)
  • Relevant core competencies essential to undertake this role, this may include:
    • EWP high risk licence
    • DWG green card
    • Working safely at heights
    • Forklift licence
    • Basic Fire Ext & Bushfire Awareness and/or Fire Tender Trailer
  • Demonstrated industry experience as an Electrical Tradesperson
  • Demonstrate Western Power's constructive behaviours and values
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
