As Project Cost Control Manager, you will lead cost and schedule governance for Clean Energy Link, one of the State’s most significant transmission programs. This is a senior leadership role responsible for providing clear, trusted insight across a complex, multi‑project portfolio - enabling confident decision‑making, proactive risk management, and the successful delivery of large‑scale infrastructure critical to the energy transition.
Working closely with the Transmission Portfolio Office Director and senior leaders, you will set the standard for cost control capability across programs, driving accountability, consistency, and commercial excellence at scale.
Your Role in Action
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, tools, and processes used to proactively manage, control, and report on project cost and schedule.
- Provide accurate, timely insights on cost and schedule performance across multiple concurrent projects within the portfolio.
- Increase efficiencies across project teams by centralising cost control expertise, reducing rework and inconsistent practices.
- Oversee project performance analysis, including identification of variances, assessment of trends and risks, oversight of expenditure forecasts, and presentation of high-level insights to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain critical portfolio and project intelligence, including historical data, strategic analysis, and executive level reports that support informed decision making and project steering.
- Direct budget management and financial governance, ensuring accurate funding allocation, oversight of commitments, contractor progress validation, and compliance with organisational and contractual requirements.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and quality assurance to project/cost controls practitioners, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across reporting and analytical practices.
- Be a change ambassador, using extensive knowledge of change control requirements to increase efficiency and set project teams up for success.
- Develop effective functional and cross functional working relationships with managers in other business units to ensure alignment and consistency of workflow, management practices and processes.
- Ensure the effective management of resources within the cost management area.
- Implement business initiatives, procedures, and processes within your area.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, business, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
- 15 years experience in a complex project environment, specifically with cost, schedule and supervision responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a project controls function of a large, complex portfolio
- Understanding of schedule, critical path analysis, resource loading & levelling
- Demonstrated expert experience in cost control systems, ERP platforms & associated financial reporting tools
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to think strategically with the capability to manage several priorities
- Collaborative approach with the ability to build effective partnerships within own area and across the organisation
- Strong business and commercial acumen with well-developed influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in developing and maintaining a safe working environment
