Senior Project Planner – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD

Help deliver Western Australia’s energy transition.

As a Senior Project Planner, you’ll play a pivotal role in Clean Energy Link (CEL) - a multi‑year, nation‑shaping program transforming Western Australia’s energy network and enabling the transition to renewables at scale. Operating at an enterprise and portfolio level, you’ll provide the schedule leadership that underpins confident executive decision‑making, setting how major infrastructure programs are planned, governed and delivered.

This is a high‑impact role for an experienced planner who wants stability, influence and the opportunity to shape outcomes on some of the state’s most significant transmission projects.

Your Role in Action

  • Maintain standards, templates, and minimum quality criteria (e.g. coding structures, calendars, logic, lags, constraints).
  • Approve schedule standards, templates and quality thresholds.
  • Develop baseline schedules, lead and advise on schedule change control, working with the Cost Controller & Project Manager to ensure approved changes are integrated with cost/risk processes and reporting, and recommend major baselines and schedule changes for governance approval.
  • Produce clear, decision-oriented insights on critical/near-critical activities, float erosion, and recovery options for governance forums.
  • Identify and flag schedule slippage to Project Managers, providing insights to support timely corrective action.
  • Conduct independent schedule health checks—assessing logic density, out of sequence work, negative float or lag, and resource realism—and perform stage gate readiness assessments.
  • Ensure schedules align with the planning & scheduling procedure (WBS/OBS mapping, control accounts, and reporting cadence).
  • Curate management summary schedules and portfolio views.
  • Provide milestone tracking and scenario analysis to support prioritisation and risk-based decisions.
  • Oversee status updates in P6 and develop progress summary dashboards to strengthen communication with stakeholders.
  • Coach Planners and Project Managers, lead communities of practice, update specifications and procedures as methods/tools evolve.
  • Align practices with PMI Practice Standard for Scheduling and AACE Recommended Practices where applicable.
  • Coordinate creation of corrective action plans where schedule quality or performance is non-compliant.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field (or equivalent experience in complex delivery environments).
  • 10 years’ planning/scheduling experience
  • Experience in schedule governance or master scheduling across a PMO/project controls environment.
  • Expert knowledge of schedule development, baselining, updating, schedule risk, recovery planning and portfolio roll-ups; familiarity with cost/risk integration and change control.
  • Proficiency with enterprise scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6 or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to write and maintain scheduling procedures, adept at coaching and uplifting planning capability.
  • Exceptional communication-able to translate complex schedule analytics into concise, executive-ready insights and options.
  • Strong experience in schedule analysis and report writing is required.
