Senior Social Value Specialist – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD
Be at the forefront of shaping the social legacy of Western Australia’s largest energy infrastructure program.
As Senior Social Value Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in how Western Power plans, approves and delivers major transmission projects - ensuring social performance, community benefit and long‑term value are embedded from the outset. The role provides strategic social impact and social legacy expertise, supporting informed decision‑making, helping to de‑risk delivery, and strengthening Western Power’s social licence across the SWIS.
Your Role in Action
- Lead the development of social value and social legacy initiatives that guide major transmission projects across the SWIS.
- Integrate social value considerations into early planning, design and delivery, ensuring community needs and expectations inform project decisions.
- Oversee priority social impact insights and assessment activities ensuring work is robust, consistent and aligned with Western Power’s social performance requirements.
- Shape social procurement requirements by contributing to tender development, supplier management and contract performance measures related to social value.
- Monitor and report on social value outcomes to support internal governance, external reporting and transparency with stakeholders.
- Identify and support implementation of opportunities for local participation, capability building and community initiatives, working collaboratively with internal teams.
- Partner closely with engagement teams, ensuring engagement insights and cultural considerations are reflected in project planning and delivery.
- Provide strategic advice on emerging social risks and opportunities, including potential impacts on Western Power’s reputation and social licence.
- Collaborate across engineering environment, land procurement and project delivery teams to embed social value principles consistently throughout the program.
- Manage and coordinate external specialists and delivery partners, ensuring their work supports program objectives and maintains required quality standards.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary qualification in social sciences, social planning, or related discipline
- Extensive knowledge and expertise, with experience in delivering social impact assessment and social value programs within major infrastructure or similar large scale project environments.
- Demonstrated capability in developing and implementing social value or community benefit strategies with measurable outcomes.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills with the ability to work across diverse internal and external groups.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, including experience evaluating social performance data.
- Experience influencing procurement processes and shaping supplier commitments related to social value.
