Application Developer

The Application Developer is responsible for designing, building, and testing ICT applications and integrations to support Western Power’s business needs. This role involves providing technical guidance to external service providers, ensuring the quality of deliverables, and contributing to innovation through Test Driven Development and automated testing. With a focus on security, scalability, and collaboration, the Application Developer plays a key role in delivering high-quality solutions and driving continuous improvement to support Western Power’s clean energy future.
Your Role in Action
- Design, develop, test, and document high-quality ICT applications and integration solutions in line with Western Power’s standards.
- Provide technical guidance and quality assurance for external service providers to ensure project success.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional, scalable solutions.
- Contribute to innovation by utilizing Test Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, and agile practices.
- Ensure all development activities adhere to security standards, including WS Security, SSL, and digital certificates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, supporting incident and problem management processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
- Mentor and support team members and external providers in best practices for application design and development.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or related disciplines, or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of ICT experience, including 3+ years in application development.
- Proficiency in agile SCRUM development, continuous deployment, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving and risk management skills, with the ability to escalate issues effectively.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure design and database management systems.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working collaboratively in diverse teams, including with external service providers.
- Knowledge of security standards and best practices for developing secure, scalable applications.
