Asset Planning Engineer – Permanent and 12 Month Max Term Contracts – Perth CBD
This position is responsible for applying industry best practice operational asset management principles to deliver optimal life cycle performance of selected network assets. This includes the application of maintenance standards, condition and life assessment as well as risk mitigation strategies.
We are currently hiring for 2 roles on the team, permanent and 12 month contract.
Your Role in Action
- Decision making and problem solving with available data on asset conditions and network performance
- Sound knowledge and understanding about distribution substation assets and their operating principles
- Capable of independently assessing live ground mounted and pole mounted assets to determine correct treatment for existing condition
- Influence delivery teams to ensure maintenance conditions are corrected on time and budget
- Demonstrate a commitment to good customer service by managing customer expectations
- Managing conflicting demands and competing priorities within a complex, dynamic, high workload volume environment
- Responsible for applying industry best practice operational asset management principles to deliver optimal life cycle performance of selected network assets
- Assess and identify assets to be addressed in the works plan, through the application of asset strategies and funding constraints.
- Ensure that all significant variations, outside tolerances align with asset strategies, are rigorously assessed from a thorough value-for-money business perspective before agreeing to revised work program targets and performance outcomes.
- Contribute to technical solutions, technical advice and problem solving on asset(s).
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor of engineering degree (electrical) and eligible for Professional Engineer membership (MIEAust) with Engineers Australia
- At least 5+ years demonstrated engineering experience in preferably an electricity utility environment
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills coupled with commercial and business acumen
- Stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of risk and compliance management and its application to the business
- Complete knowledge of Western Power’s relevant asset strategies
- Good people skills with constructive behaviour
