Automation Engineer – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD 

 

We're seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering & Design team. In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering cutting-edge automation solutions and substation control systems that ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electricity to our customers. Your Role in Action  

 

  • To analyse a problem and to propose cost effective solutions in its resolution.
  • To effectively plan for the most expedient delivery of a given project making the most efficient use of the resources available.
  • To manage risk in the delivery of Automation solutions.
  • Apply the relevant Australian and international standards in design.
  • Ensure compliance to Western Power standards and network technical rules.
  • The delivery of technical solutions, engineering processes and system optimisation.
  • Developing one’s own skills and technical expertise and accepting coaching where required.
  • Managing one’s own performance and improving personal effectiveness. 

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Degree qualification in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Computing), ICT, or Networking, requiring at least four years of university-level study or an equivalent qualification.
  • Solid engineering experience in SCADA systems, particularly with regard to power transmission and distribution, with an ability to read schematic diagrams.
  • Familiarity in the hardware employed and the nomenclature used with regard to Primary and Secondary systems as utilised in Transmission and Distribution Substations.
  • A detailed understanding and working knowledge of SCADA system designs, SCADA RTU and Gateway configurations, PLC configuration, HMI configuration, Ethernet switch and router configurations and database systems.
  • The ability to operate in the field for prolonged periods of time in remote locations.
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
