Commercial Manager

Western Power is seeking multiple permanent opportunities for Commercial Managers influencing high‑risk, high‑value commercial decisions across critical ICT/technology partnerships and maintenance/materials projects.

 

This role sits within our Commercial function, where commercial judgement grounded in contract law principles is applied pragmatically to drive strong commercial outcomes — balancing value, risk, compliance and long‑term supplier performance. You’ll work closely with procurement and contracts, internal legal and business leaders to enable confident decision‑making on contracts that underpin WA’s energy future.

Your Role in Action  

 

 

  • Shape high-impact commercial outcomes across ICT, software and technology contracts, or strategic maintenance and materials contracts, balancing value, compliance and risk
  • Play a trusted role in commercial strategy, supplier partnerships and complex, high-risk transactions that matter to the business
  • Drive real value - lifting service quality, strengthening governance and reducing risk across a diverse contract portfolio
  • Help deliver reliable, future-ready technology and network support that underpins Western Australia’s clean energy transition
  • Champion sustainable, customer-focused solutions that align commercial success with long-term community benefit
  • Lead complex negotiations and resolve disputes with confidence, pragmatism and fairness
  • Provide clear, trusted advice on high-value transactions, including departure and exit management
  • Identify smarter ways of working, unlocking cost savings, efficiencies and continuous improvement across a variety of agreements.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Relevant qualification in Law, Procurement, Contracts or ICT, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong understanding of ICT and services contracts, including software, hardware and managed services or;
  • Strong understanding of maintenance and materials contracts
  • Working knowledge of Contract Law, Australian Consumer Law, and data and cyber security requirements
  • Proven negotiation skills across high-value and complex transactions, including exit management
  • Sound understanding of risk, compliance and procurement governance
  • Clear, confident communicator who builds trust and influences effectively across teams
