Compliance Specialist - Six Month Secondment - Perth CBD

 

We are excited to offer a six-month fixed-term opportunity for a Compliance Specialist to play a key role in supporting Western Power's compliance obligations. In this position, you will drive the effective implementation of our legislative compliance management framework, policies and procedures, while serving as Western Power's appointed decision-maker for Freedom of Information requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Act as Western Power's appointed Freedom of Information decision-maker, managing end-to-end FOI requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1992.
  • Prepare FOI decisions, coordinate document searches and stakeholder consultations, assess disclosure risks, and ensure all statutory timeframes and legislative requirements are met.
  • Assist with the administration, maintenance and continuous improvement of Western Power's policy framework, including policy registers, monitoring, reporting and compliance tools.
  • Manage policy breach reporting and support effective governance processes across the organisation.
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders to promote compliance requirements and embed relevant policies, procedures and training programs.
  • Design, deliver and coordinate legislative, regulatory and Code of Conduct compliance training, while reporting on training effectiveness and completion outcomes.
  • Manage compliance communications and content across Western Power's intranet, driving awareness and supporting a strong compliance culture.
  • Provide timely, practical compliance advice to support informed decision-making and help Western Power meet its legislative and regulatory obligations.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Experience in a compliance, governance, auditing, legal or Freedom of Information role, with a understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and confidently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing reports, presentations, dashboards and data-driven insights, supported by strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
  • Sound knowledge of governance frameworks, policies and compliance processes, with the ability to apply them in a practical business environment.
  • A collaborative, customer-focused approach, with proven ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
