The SPS Contract Management Team Leader is accountable for leading and developing a high-performing team of Contract Managers and Contract Delivery Specialists. This team is responsible for managing complex, high-value contracts that underpin Western Power’s Standalone Power Systems (SPS) program and broader network initiatives, including customer-driven projects.

 

This leadership role ensures clarity of expectations, accountability, and alignment with Western Power’s Contract Management Framework. The position is critical to achieving successful delivery outcomes by setting clear commercial, schedule, and risk parameters upfront and maintaining strong governance throughout the contract lifecycle.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Providing technical and strategic leadership to the team.
  • Driving optimal contract performance to meet obligations, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring contract delivery directly supports Western Power’s operational objectives and customer outcomes.
  • Establishing robust processes for risk management, schedule adherence, and commercial oversight.

 

This role has a direct impact on Western Power’s business performance and customer satisfaction by ensuring all SPS contracts are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory and organisational standards.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Accountable for the effective and efficient management of Western Power’s contracts of significant value, volume, complexity, and reputational impact
  • Accountable for ensuring full compliance to, and consistent application of, Western Powers Contract Management Framework
  • Proactively contribute to improvements in Western Power’s Contract Management and Work, Health and Safety Frameworks
  • Accountable for providing clear technical advice, expertise and direction to the team and has overall responsibility for organising allocated resources to achieve specific outcomes
  • Responsible for the management of a team of contract management, ensuring they are accountable for the contract deliverables
  • Accountable for managing resources to ensure outsourced works relating to Network contracts or Customer initiated projects are delivered in line with the contractual requirements.
  • Driving a consistent approach to contract delivery processes and procedures including the use of systems, tools and templates within the team
  • Build a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation within your team

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Degree qualified in Law or a Legal discipline, Engineering, Business or a Commercial discipline, OR trade-based qualifications coupled with significant, broad and deep Contract Management / Commercial experience of at least 15+ years.
  • A thorough knowledge of the external contracting market and contract governance and probity
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical knowledge and experience, coupled with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated people management skills with an ability to motivate and lead successful teams
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage several priorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of budgeting/finance systems including monitoring and control
  • Knowledge and experience in contract law and Australian Standard contracts.
