Contractor Compliance Specialist – Permanent Full Time – Jandakot

 

As a Contractor Compliance Specialist, you’ll play a key role in making sure our contracting partners meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and quality.  Specifically, this role is responsible for our contract relating to logistics, warehousing, wood poles and wood pole logistics.  Your expertise will directly support the delivery of renewable energy connections, new technologies, and the infrastructure that keeps our communities powered - all while driving Western Power’s commitment to a sustainable energy transition.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Responsible for ensuring external contractor’s working on behalf of Western Power comply fully with the Contract Management Framework and all contractual compliance obligations and requirements.
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of outsourced works to ensure full contractual compliance is met with a focus on:

 

    • site specific safety management
    • site specific environmental management
    • quality assurance

 

  • Contract management for wood pole supply and transport logistics to Western Power sites.   Critical infrastructure that is the cornerstone of our electrical network.

 

    • Ensure continuity of Wood Pole Supply/Sustainability across the WP Network inclusive of forecasting and product transition
    • Manage all Distribution, Transmission, Engineering and general supply related Pole Storage, Distribution enquiries

 

  • Ensuring appropriate documentation to validate claims and variation requests
  • Influence the outcomes and quality of the Contractor’s performance by drawing on specialised past experience in supply chain, transport & logistics to make recommendations
  • Exercise independence in giving sound advice to the Contractors based on specialised experience in supply chain & logistics.
  • Conduct site audits to ensure all work instructions, authorisations, traffic management and other procedures are being adhered to by the contractors.
  • Build strong relationships with all contractors to ensure that they operate as an integrated partner.
  • Build strong relationship with operational teams to review forecast demand, overlaid with resource restraints to ensure an interrupted service model.
  • Key role in supporting Logistics operations in an emergency event as the network is rebuilt to get customers power turned back on safely.
  • Passionate about product quality and willingness to learn a fairly unique and bespoke product range with a complicated supply chain.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications in engineering, contract management, Health Safety and Environment (HSE), or Work Health and Safety (WHS), or similar
  • Solid experience in power and/or heavy industry planning, warehousing, logistics, transportation.
  • Best practice knowledge and industry experience in the areas of contract management and execution
  • Best practice experience and knowledge in the areas of safety management, occupational health, workplace assessing, incident and hazard investigation and emergency response’
  • Proven experience is necessary in managing conflict resolution and managing public and stakeholder relations
  • Strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to learn
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ for those roles that are required to make Site visits
