Contractor Compliance Team Leader – Permanent Full Time / Perth CBD Office
This position is accountable for leading a team of Contractor Compliance Specialists, who are responsible for ensuring that Western Power’s Contractor(s) operate in accordance with all of its’ Contractual requirements including; Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management .
The team plays a critical role in supporting Contract Management by ensuring robust oversight of contractor operations, facilitating accurate verification of contractor claims, and contributing to the integrity and efficiency of contracts in execution. The leader in this role is expected to cultivate a high-perofrmance culture, promote best practices, and ensure alignment with organisation goals and compliance standards.
As a leadership role, this position is not only responsible for overseeing day-to-day compliance activities, but also for driving continuous improvement across the team. This includes optimising team performance, mentoring individual team members, and fostering professional development to build capability and resilience within the team.
Your Role in Action
- Accountable for the effective and efficient management of Western Power contractor(s) working to contracts of significant value and complexity
- Ensuring a consistent, effective and responsive site presence to carry out CCS activities including immediate response and active involvement in incident management.
- Accountable for ensuring the appropriate level of onsite resourcing is available for outsourced works
- Accountable for ensuring a high level of compliance to, and consistent application of the contract management framework for onsite activities within the team
- Accountable for providing clear technical advice, expertise and direction to the team and has overall responsibility for organising allocated resources to achieve specific outcomes
- Ensuring the constructability review of contracted work packages is completed prior to the Contract being executed ·
- Ensuring the appropriate documentation is available to validate claims and variation requests
- Ensuring there is a consistent approach to contractor and contract delivery including the use of systems, tools and templates within the team
- Build a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation within your team
Ensuring the successful delivery of outsourced works by contractors in full compliance with contractual obligations, with a strong focus on the following key areas:

- site specific safety management
- site specific environmental management
- quality assurance
- schedule management with particular emphasis on maintaining the critical path
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Degree qualified in Law or a Legal discipline, Engineering, Business or a Commercial discipline, OR trade-based qualifications coupled with significant, broad and deep Contract and/or Construction Management experience of at least 15+ years
- A seasoned professional with extensive industry demonstrated knowledge and technical expertise in complex contract management of at least 10+ years
- A thorough knowledge of the external contracting market and contract governance and probity
- Strong commercial acumen, coupled with strong problem-solving skills
- Extensive knowledge and industry experience in construction management
- Strong leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience or exposure to electrical industry is preferred but not essential
- Ability to deal with pressure, ambiguity and change and to adapt to and manage different situations
