As our Cyber Security Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the charge in building strong cyber security capability and awareness across Western Power, driving meaningful change as we embed modern controls, smarter ways of working, and cutting-edge technologies to defend our business against escalating cyber threats. In an energy sector, and a cyber landscape, evolving faster than anywhere else, your leadership will have a real, lasting impact on protecting our operations and keeping the WA community safe.
Your Role in Action
- Set the direction for cyber security at Western Power, providing strategic thought leadership and coordinating activities that strengthen our security posture.
- Lead and inspire high-performing teams, overseeing internal cyber specialists and Managed Service Providers to ensure seamless, effective day-to-day security operations.
- Drive accountability and excellence across our cyber security partners, managing performance, SLAs, governance, resourcing and reporting.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation, shaping and evolving cyber defence, digital security, risk, capability or engineering practices to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Turn risk into action, leading compliance reviews and uplift programs arising from audits, penetration testing, design reviews and new regulatory obligations.
- Deliver complex, high-impact cyber programs, guiding the planning and execution of strategic investments that protect our critical operations.
- Translate insight into influence, owning meaningful cyber security reporting that informs leaders, executives and the Board.
- Build trusted partnerships across IT, OT and the wider business—and with external threat intelligence and advisory bodies—to reduce operational risk and embed strong cyber security practices.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Proven experience leading cyber security operations, with the confidence to guide teams through complex and evolving risk environments.
- A strong grounding in cyber security frameworks and best practice (such as NIST, ISO 27000, ES-C2M2 or COBIT), with the ability to apply them in practical, business-focused ways.
- People-first leadership capability, with experience building, coaching and empowering high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, enabling you to collaborate, negotiate and lead effectively across diverse organisational boundaries.
- The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, meaningful insights that resonate with business and executive stakeholders.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in business, risk management, computer science or cyber security—or equivalent professional experience that demonstrates your capability.
