Employee Relations Case Advisory & Investigations Team Leader
Perth Office - CBD, WA, AU
Employee Relations Case Advisory & Investigations Team Leader
We’re seeking an Employee Relations Case Advisory and Investigations Team Leader to lead a trusted team investigating employee conduct and grievance matters across the organisation. In this role you’ll work closely with leaders, unions, HR and operational teams across our field and corporate workforce, guiding fair, balanced and thoughtful approaches to complex employee relations matters.
You’ll bring sound judgement, empathy and influence to a regulated, safety‑critical and unionised environment, ensuring matters are managed with consistency, care and a trauma‑informed approach that supports strong relationships and balanced outcomes.
Your Role in Action
- Lead and evolve an end‑to‑end ER case advisory and investigations service, balancing sound judgement, empathy and operational context to support fair and effective outcomes, not just process completion.
- Build strong, trusted relationships across the People function and the business, partnering with HR Business Partners, leaders, unions and ER to ensure seamless case flow and a consistent, high‑quality service experience for our customers.
- Collaborate to uplift tools, frameworks and ways of working, driving process improvements, standardisation and practical resources that strengthen capability, confidence and best‑practice service delivery.
- Provide insight, reporting and trend analysis that goes beyond compliance to inform proactive people, culture and capability initiatives across the organisation.
- Ensure investigations and case management practices are robust, trauma‑informed and defensible, meeting legislative, industrial and safety requirements while remaining human‑centred and outcomes‑focused.
- Partner closely with HR Business Partners and leaders post‑case, enabling clear action planning, accountability and sustainable change beyond the investigation outcome.
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team, building consistency, confidence and continuous improvement in decision‑making, service delivery and stakeholder experience.
- Guide the most complex and sensitive matters, acting as an escalation point, engaging external expertise where appropriate, and ensuring thoughtful, well‑governed outcomes aligned to organisational values.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Background in Employee Relations or HR, with experience guiding or overseeing complex workplace matters, including investigations, using sound judgement and a people‑centred approach.
- Proven people leadership capability, with a track record of mentoring, coaching and developing others to deliver consistent, high‑quality outcomes in complex or fast‑paced environments.
- Strong relationship‑building skills, with the confidence and empathy to work collaboratively across frontline, corporate, executive and regional or remote operational settings.
- Working knowledge of workplace legislation and industrial frameworks (such as the Fair Work Act and enterprise agreements), and a commitment to fairness, consistency and natural justice.
- Clear, confident communicator, able to translate complex issues into practical, defensible advice and recommendations for leaders and senior stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or a related field (degree or diploma), or equivalent practical experience gained through career progression.
