We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader – Automation Project Outsourcing at Western Power Perth Office CBD, on a Permanent Full-Time basis.


About this role

 

We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee a newly formed team focusing on the outsourcing of Automation engineering projects. As the Engineering Team Leader, your primary responsibility will be the successful outsourcing of these projects, a key area where we aim to improve based on past experiences. This role requires robust experience in project management or contract management, particularly with a focus on overseeing outsourced engineering services.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

 

  • Strong skills in managing and delivering outsourced projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and interface seamlessly with internal teams and external contractors, ensuring efficient execution of Automation services within our Transmission and Distribution network. This includes telemetry and control interfaces for all plant items, from initial estimates and control schemes to customer interactions and compliance verifications.

 

While an engineering degree is preferred, candidates with degrees in other relevant fields who have substantial experience in managing outsourced engineering projects will also be considered. The main performance indicator for this role will be the effective management and success of outsourcing Automation work, an area crucial to our operations yet challenging in the past.

 

About you

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Degree in Engineering, ­­eligible for corporate membership of the institution of Engineers Australia
  • In-depth knowledge and extensive experience of transmission and distribution Protection, Automation and Telecommunications systems design, policies, procedures and regulations
  • Skills and capability in front-line management, work management, design coordination and ability to schedule tasks and resources to meet project requirements
  • An understanding of risk management and its application within the business
  • Strong leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
