Environmental Performance Team Leader – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD

Western Power is driving Western Australia’s energy transition - and we’re looking for an inspiring and people-focused leader to guide our Environmental Performance team.

 

You’ll provide strategic direction, technical insight, and trusted leadership to ensure sustainability is at the core of our operations while strengthening Western Power’s reputation as a responsible energy leader.

 

Your Role in Action

  

  • Provide effective leadership to the Environmental Performance team, continuously enhancing workforce capability, professionalism, and engagement through coaching, development, and support.
  • Identify workforce training needs and oversee the design and delivery of programs across environment, heritage, and planning to ensure ongoing skill development and compliance.
  • Establish and communicate environmental, heritage, and planning responsibilities across Western Power, ensuring clear guidance and alignment with business objectives.
  • Represent Western Power in internal and external forums, building and managing strong relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and the community to support network planning and delivery.
  • Provide high-level professional advice to guide strategy and decision-making, ensuring the effective and efficient management of environmental, heritage, and planning matters.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental programs, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory obligations, and sustainability objectives.
  • Influence the planning and prioritisation of Western Power’s transmission network projects, ensuring environmental compliance and strategic outcomes.
  • Support integrated impact assessments, environmental compliance, and incident management, providing proactive and solutions-focused guidance.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and environmental systems effectively to deliver sustainable, cost-efficient outcomes for Western Power and its customers.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • Substantial leadership experience having managed and developed high performing teams.
  • Solid experience and knowledge in setting strategy, planning, and leading strategic and business change.
  • Forecasting, planning and resource management experience, including budget management
  • Experience working in infrastructure, construction, maintenance and operational field practices or other technically based industries with complex operational safety, environmental, approval and community issues.
  • Experience in the development of regional and local planning schemes and SEQT and/ or community impact assessments.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory, environmental & heritage approvals planning policies and procedures and ability to demonstrate practical application.
  • Exceptional and demonstrated stakeholder management, influencing, and partnering skills.
