Assessment & Approvals Specialist – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD 

 

We are seeking two experienced professionals to join our Environmental Performance team in key roles that contribute toward successful delivery of the Clean Energy Link Program.  

 

You will also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to secure strategic approvals for complex transmission projects, enabling future growth, network security while upholding compliance standards and environmental integrity. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects and influence long-term asset strategies within a team committed to excellence and sustainability. 

 

Your Role in Action   

  

  • Contribute to the development of statutory approvals pathways for Clean Energy Link projects through desktop assessment, constraints identification and field work 
  • Support regulatory submissions including drafting environmental impact assessments, referral documentation (e.g., EPBC, WA EPA), environmental management plans, and responses to RFIs, ensuring high-quality, defensible content.
  • Engage, procure, and manage external technical consultants undertaking ecological, heritage, hydrology, contamination, or other specialist fieldwork, overseeing scopes of work, budget, schedule, and deliverable quality.
  • Undertake data entry, document control and version management for assessment and approvals documentation, ensuring traceability and compliance with project governance systems.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and mapping using GIS software to develop shapefiles, interpret spatial constraints, and support route refinement, site selection, and environmental risk assessments.
  • Support leaders and Joint Planning Teams in the preparation of long-term strategies and development plans to ensure the early identification and consideration of Clean Energy requirements.
  • Working with construction delivery partners ensure that Environmental Management Plans, conditions and compliance expectations are upheld 
  • Engage with continual service improvement and innovation opportunities to bring new ways of working to the project  
  • Support internal and external engagement, including collaboration with Traditional Owner groups, landholders, regulators, local government, and other stakeholders as required during the assessment and approval phases. 

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit  

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety, Environmental Science, urban and regional planning, law or related discipline.
  • Experience in environmental, environmental, heritage and statutory planning approvals
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment and approvals in a major infrastructure, mining or regulatory environment 
  • Proven ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders  
  • Strong communication and written skills.
