Environmental Performance Manager – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD

 

Lead Western Power’s environmental strategy for WA’s energy transition.


Step into a key role driving best-practice environmental approvals and management for our transmission projects. You’ll shape strategy, influence stakeholders, and safeguard network growth while navigating complex social and environmental challenges.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Provide effective leadership, continuously improving the competence, capability, and professionalism of the Western Power workforce through training, education, support, development, reward, and coaching.
  • Develop, execute, and continuously improve environmental transmission programs, ensuring alignment with overall business requirements and outcomes.
  • Influence the development and prioritisation of Western Power’s transmission network plans to meet regulatory obligations and agreements.
  • Manage and monitor assigned budgets, resources, environmental systems, and data to deliver affordable and effective outcomes for customers and the business.
  • Lead high-profile, complex programs of work with significant cost or reputational impact, coordinating across management disciplines to manage risks, stakeholders, change impacts, communications, and resources.
  • Strategically engage and influence government stakeholders to support policy reform initiatives and ensure Western Power’s positions are understood.
  • Accountable for developing strategies that support the implementation and embedding of the Social Performance framework, including Nature Positive/Offset Strategy.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
  • Significant broad knowledge and expertise in managing and delivering large scale, strategic Programs of work with Director/ Portfolio Management level experience in successful transformation projects delivery preferably within an electrical or utilities environment.
  • Proactive, tenacious, and strong influencing - skills to drive successful delivery of results and meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Substantial leadership experience having managed and developed high performing teams.
  • Solid experience and knowledge in setting strategy, planning, and leading strategic and business change.
  • Substantial experience that highlights strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Forecasting, planning and resource management experience, including budget management
  • 10+ years of experience working in infrastructure, construction, maintenance and operational field practices or other technically based industries with complex operational safety, environmental, approval and community issues.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory, environmental & heritage approvals planning policies and procedures and ability to demonstrate practical application.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and written skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, influence outcomes, negotiate and speak in public forums where stakeholders have opposing interests.
