Join us as an Environmental Project Support Team Leader and play a key role in the future of our network. Leading the Environmental Approvals team, you will influence strategic planning and asset investment decisions, identify environmental and safety requirements across major programs of work, and partner with stakeholders to secure essential approvals that enable long-term network growth, resilience and sustainability.
Your Role in Action
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Environmental Project Support team, fostering a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and excellence.
- Drive the integration of environmental considerations into strategic network plans, asset strategies, design standards and work programs to support sustainable network growth and regulatory compliance.
- Provide expert environmental advice and oversight to support the timely delivery of projects, including the identification and acquisition of required statutory approvals and agreements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, influencing planning and infrastructure outcomes that support the protection and development of network assets.
- Influence the assessment and development of statutory planning instruments, referrals and regulatory processes to align with organisational objectives and network needs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify, assess and manage environmental risks and impacts, ensuring safe and compliant outcomes for the network and workforce.
- Oversee the collection, management and reporting of environmental approvals, commitments and performance data to meet regulatory and governance requirements.
- Provide strong governance and technical assurance across the team, ensuring environmental advice is accurate, consistent and aligned with best practice, while effectively managing budgets and resources to deliver value for customers.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of building, developing and motivating high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in environmental planning, statutory approvals, community impact assessments, and the development of regional and local planning frameworks.
- Strong understanding of environmental, heritage and planning approval requirements, with the ability to apply regulatory frameworks in complex operational environments.
- Extensive experience within infrastructure, utilities, construction or other technically focused industries, managing environmental, heritage, approvals and community-related challenges.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes across diverse internal and external groups.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning, or a related discipline.
