Hazard & Critical Risks Team Leader

We have a newly created leadership role at Western Power that offers you the chance to lead a team of hazard and risk specialists and shape how critical risk management is delivered across our operations. As the first to step into this position, you’ll embed our Critical Risk Management framework, deliver hazard prevention strategies, and advance our health and safety maturity through strong frontline engagement and hands‑on interventions.
Your Role in Action
- Implement and coordinate the Critical Risk Management framework across the business.
- Analyse incident and hazard data to identify trends and recommend targeted interventions.
- Coach leaders and engage frontline teams to embed risk management practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Deliver prevention programs for key risks such as manual handling, electricity, fall from heights, and driving.
- Oversee ergonomic assessments and safety‑in‑design reviews, supporting engineering and operations teams with practical controls.
- Conduct risk assessments and influence changes in work methods or tools to reduce or eliminate hazards.
- Support investigations and corrective actions following critical events.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of hazard and risk specialists, providing guidance, task allocation, and development planning.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Extensive experience in health, safety, hazard, and risk management within large or high‑risk organisations.
- Proven leadership of health, hygiene, or safety professionals, with a track record of delivering practical, evidence‑based solutions.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills, with the ability to identify trends and make sound, evidence‑based decisions.
- In‑depth knowledge of State and Federal safety legislation and standards.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Health, Safety, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the business.
