Land Access and Strategic Land Use Planning Manager – Permanent Full Time – Perth CBD

 

Drive Western Australia’s energy future! We are seeking a Land Access & Strategic Land Use Planning Manager to lead landholder engagement and strategic land use planning for our transmission projects. You’ll provide expert advice, shape land use decisions, and guide your team to deliver infrastructure critical to the State’s decarbonisation and electrification goals.

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Manage a team of land access and land use planning specialists through effective leadership, technical review of success processes, standards, and the provision of strategic advice through extensive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, performance management and peer support.
  • Develop and implement strategies to embed Western Power’s Social Performance Framework for transmission projects, including:
    • Land access and landowner engagement
    • Planning and land access notifications and approvals
    • Strategic Planning Referrals
    • Risk and impact management and monitoring
  • Provide technical advice as required on Western Power’s legal and regulatory obligations related to all landholder and land use activities.
  • Manage high profile complex programs of work of significant cost and or reputational value to the business.
  • Strategically engage and influence Government stakeholders to support policy reform initiatives.
  • Oversee management and operation of customer and business communication during the land access and approvals processes.
  • Develop and manage of contracts involved in land access and approval arrangements.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Urban and Regional Planning, Social Sciences, Social Planning or related discipline
  • Significant broad knowledge and expertise in managing and delivering large scale, strategic Programs of work with Director/ Portfolio Management level experience in successful transformation projects delivery preferably within an electrical or utilities environment.
  • Proactive, tenacious, and strong influencing - skills to drive successful delivery of results and meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise with at least 10+ years’ experience in delivering landholder engagement and/or strategic planning referrals/approvals in energy, mining, construction and/or large infrastructure programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a professional team to achieve business goals
  • Demonstrated ability to execute large, complex programs of work with the ability to provide significant guidance, advice, and counsel.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills both within and outside of the organisation, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills and exposure to risk management and governance processes.
  • Highly developed analytical skills required to be applied to complex organisational challenges and opportunities.
