As Western Power drives Western Australia’s energy transition, we’re looking for an influential leader to shape how we connect with the communities and landholders that make it possible.
In this pivotal role, you’ll lead a passionate team of specialists developing and delivering best-practice landholder engagement and strategic planning approaches for Western Power’s major transmission projects. You’ll provide expert leadership, technical insight, and strategic guidance to ensure our network grows responsibly, sustainably, and in partnership with the people and places we serve.
This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact - safeguarding essential infrastructure, building trusted relationships across government and industry, and helping Western Power strengthen its reputation as a collaborative leader in the energy transition.
Your Role in Action
- Lead, inspire and support a team of land access and land use planning specialists — providing expert leadership, performance management, technical oversight, and peer support.
- Oversee the implementation of Western Power’s Social Performance Framework across transmission energy transition projects by delivering specialist advice and services in:
- Land access and landowner engagement
- Planning and land access notifications and approvals (private landholders, MRWA, PTA, DBNGP and other relevant approvals and notifications)
- Strategic Planning Referrals
- Risk and impact management and monitoring
- Provide authoritative technical advice on Western Power’s legal and regulatory obligations relating to landholder and land use activities.
- Champion continuous improvement in stakeholder relationships, offering strategic guidance on managing complex and sensitive land-related issues.
- Drive internal understanding and adoption of Western Power’s land access, strategic referral and property procurement approaches — ensuring stakeholder insights shape our business decisions.
- Build strong cross-divisional connections and foster collaboration across the organisation.
- Establish, develop and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders — creating advocates who support Western Power’s growth and success.
- Manage and optimise assigned budgets and resources to deliver affordable, effective outcomes for our customers.
- Monitor and report on social impact data and performance in line with Western Power’s strategic objectives.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Urban and Regional Planning, Social Sciences, Social Planning or related discipline
- Extensive knowledge and expertise with experience in delivering landholder engagement and/or strategic planning referrals/approvals in energy, mining, construction and/or large infrastructure programs.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a professional team to achieve business goals
- Demonstrated ability to execute large, complex programs of work with the ability to provide significant guidance, advice, and counsel.
- Strong stakeholder management skills both within and outside of the organisation, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills and exposure to risk management and governance processes.
- Highly developed analytical skills required to be applied to complex organisational challenges and opportunities.
