Major Capital Program Team Leader – Perth CBD - Permanent

 

This position is responsible for leading and developing a team of professionals, who are accountable for the optimal delivery of Customer initiated high value and often complex projects and assigned work programs and or bundles.

 

This is to be achieved through providing technical leadership and advice to the team and ensuring consistency with business strategy, within set budgets and time constraints while meeting overall internal and external stakeholder expectations.

 

This leadership role is critical to ensuring clear expectations are set and that the team is held accountable for the required outcomes, quality and delivery.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Accountable for the delivery and managing the implementation of assigned projects, including responsibility for ensuring that scope, quality, time, and budget targets are met and for managing the associated risk and issues.
  • Accountable for providing clear technical advice, expertise and direction to the team and has overall responsibility for organising allocated resources to achieve specific program results.
  • Ensure the adoption and conformance of the appropriate project and contract management principles, techniques, controls, processes and approaches, aligned to Western Power’s governance frameworks and systems.
  • Assist the Area Manager in building and maintain a clear value proposition in line with Western Power’s operating model for the respective area. This will include efficiency and effectiveness through standardisation of the service offering.
  • Maintain a constructive and consultative working environment through open communication and building effective relationships with customers and key partners.
  • Ensuring the projects are established and mobilised in the right way to guarantee a successful outcome to the agreed scope, time and cost.
  • Successful transition of projects to business as usual with minimal business impact, ensuring change management is effective.
  • Guiding and coaching team members to build strong, direct relationships within their teams, as well as develop and nurture talent, providing clear career path/growth opportunities.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit

 

  • Professionally qualified in project or program management (e.g. PgMP, MSP).
  • Professional Project Management qualifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, RegPM).
  • Degree qualified in relevant focus areas (e.g. business administration, project/program management, contract management engineering etc.).
  • Experience in managing teams of up to 20 multi-disciplined professional employees with superior and strong organisational and technical leadership skill and proven project management experience as well as a detailed understanding of business issues.
  • Extensive program or large-scale project management knowledge and experience, preferably within an engineering environment, including a high-level understanding of all technical concepts that contribute to delivering the desired project outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to produce high quality outputs at short notice and present complex concepts.
  • Proven ability at a senior level to manage, lead and motivate a team to achieve challenging financial, schedule and performance targets.
  • Experience in the implementation of portfolio, program and project management systems.
