Join us in a newly created permanent opportunity as our Payroll Manager and take ownership of a payroll ecosystem that delivers excellence in governance, compliance and accuracy. Responsible for the end-to-end payroll lifecycle, you will ensure adherence to legislative, industrial and governance requirements while driving continuous improvement and operational effectiveness. With a proactive approach to risk management, you will identify and resolve payroll issues early, implement effective solutions, and safeguard Western Power while enhancing payroll performance and service delivery.
Your Role in Action
- Lead the strategic direction and governance of the payroll function, ensuring payroll services are delivered with accuracy, integrity, compliance and a strong employee experience.
- Establish and maintain a robust payroll compliance framework, ensuring effective governance, audit readiness, data integrity and compliance with all legislative, regulatory and industrial obligations.
- Identify, assess and mitigate payroll-related financial, legal, regulatory and reputational risks, implementing proactive controls and remediation strategies to protect the organisation.
- Provide expert payroll leadership and trusted advice to senior stakeholders, contributing to enterprise risk management, governance initiatives, workforce planning and organisational decision-making.
- Oversee payroll audits, compliance reviews and reporting activities, ensuring findings are addressed, controls remain effective, and obligations are consistently met.
- Drive continuous improvement through payroll transformation initiatives, process optimisation, policy enhancement and system innovation to strengthen capability, efficiency and compliance outcomes.
- Lead the delivery of legislative, regulatory and system changes, ensuring effective governance, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, testing and implementation with minimal business disruption.
- Develop and lead a high-performing payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence, continuous improvement and customer-centric service delivery.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Extensive experience leading payroll functions within large, complex and highly regulated environments, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll services.
- Demonstrated success in establishing and strengthening payroll governance, risk and control frameworks, ensuring compliance, audit readiness and payroll integrity.
- Deep knowledge of payroll legislation, industrial instruments and statutory obligations, with the ability to interpret complex requirements and apply them effectively in practice.
- Proven ability to identify, assess and mitigate payroll-related risks, while managing audits, investigations, regulatory enquiries and remediation activities.
- Strong leadership capability, with experience developing high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Experience leveraging enterprise payroll and HR systems to optimise payroll performance, support business objectives and drive process and system improvements, with SAP SuccessFactors experience highly regarded.
