Pricing and Regulation Analyst

We’re excited to offer a permanent opportunity for a Pricing & Regulation Analyst to join the Regulation team at Western Power and play a pivotal role in shaping how we manage our business and interact with the Economic Regulation Authority. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of preparing both historic and future revenue, expenditure, and pricing data for Access Arrangement submissions, work that directly influences strategic decisions and regulatory compliance.

 

We’re looking for someone with strong Excel modelling skills, whether your background is in financial, technical, or data modelling. Your Role in Action  

 

  • Advise and support the preparation of Western Power’s investment proposals, pricing forecasts, and revenue information for future Access Arrangement revisions to the ERA.
  • Contribute to financial analysis, processes, and supporting evidence that strengthen Western Power’s regulatory submissions and strategic decision-making.
  • Investigate and coordinate robust historic and forecast data to demonstrate financial and commercial credibility.
  • Review, develop, and optimise pricing models and strategies, including reference tariffs, price lists, and submissions to the ERA and other external agencies.
  • Prepare accurate, defensible information that builds confidence in Western Power’s ability to forecast regulatory financial parameters and funding needs for capital and operational expenditure.
  • Analyse Western Power’s performance against ERA determinations, providing insights, recommendations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Produce clear, professional documentation and reports for external bodies, including loss factors and Maximum Reserve Capacity Price requirements for the Economic Regulation Authority.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day tasks and projects, driving outcomes that make a real impact.

What Makes You a Great Fit 

  • Proven experience in financial analysis using models and spreadsheets to deliver meaningful insights.
  • Understanding of economic regulatory frameworks, access codes, and access arrangements.
  • Experience preparing clear, evidence-based information to support complex projects in a large, regulated business.
  • Strong ability to collaborate, influence, and build relationships with executives, technical teams, and external partners.
  • Excellent report writing skills, paired with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
  • A proactive, adaptable mindset with a commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.
