We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Digital Product Architect at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.


About this role

 

As the Principal Digital Product Architect for Asset Management and Field Operations, you will be required to provide significant technology thought leadership and direction for Western Power, managing the development and currency of the enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps to ensure alignment with Western Power’s business objectives. The role is accountable for ensuring Western Power leverages data and technology to achieve its business strategy.

 

This position is accountable for maximising return on investment in technology and for driving overall compliance with architecture governance, processes, policies, standards, and guidelines. You will also be required to:

  • Influence and guide senior management within Technology and Innovation and the business on the application of technology to achieve Western Power’s business strategy and objectives.
  • Drive the definition of architecture and technology opportunities within the organisation and provide leadership and guidance to promote the development and exploitation of technical knowledge in the organisation.
  • Develop and manage well-articulated, multi-year technology roadmaps through engagement with external service providers and internal stakeholders to enable the business strategy and objectives, covering the aspects of Information Technology and Control Systems relevant to the enterprise architecture domain.
  • Lead the governance forum for the consistent application of the enterprise architecture principles and guidelines within the BU.
  • Oversee the technology policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines within the architecture domain to deliver a business-aligned technology estate and drive compliance of initiatives, projects and services to those architecture policies and standards.
  • From an architecture perspective, provide oversight on the delivery of technology services by external service providers.
  • Manage appropriate levels of controlled innovation from external service providers, assuring the realisation of benefits and balancing risks.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with peers in the business, external providers and the broader industry.
  • Provide architecture recommendations for the business process, business application and information management domains within Western Power.

 

Principal Digital Product Architect will;

  • Use broad understanding of architecture domains (business, information, application, technology, etc.) and application of business concepts from those domains to drive strategic decisions that meet the priorities of the business, whilst respecting the enterprise architecture principles and guardrails.
  • Lead Asset Management and Field Operations Product Streams distributed architecture decision making through regular consultation with solution architects and product delivery teams, identifying architecture decisions to be made and providing guidance on interpreting the reference architecture.
  • Manage the Product Architecture Roadmap to identify needed capabilities and features that enable; inclusion, development and implementation of enterprise and product specific architectural enablers.
  • Drive Enterprise Architecture practices across Products by; coordinating dependencies, maximising shared capabilities, and escalating architecture decisions required to ensure alignment with Product and Digital Capability strategies.
  • Deep understanding of digital asset management systems that integrate seamlessly with other enterprise systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Customer Information Systems (CIS).
  • Deep understanding of planning and scheduling systems for works management.

 


About you

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Systems Analysis, Engineering or a related study, or equivalent significant, broad, and deep industry experience 
  • Comprehensive, accumulative and broad IT experience, with significant demonstrable technical leadership experience as Business Enterprise Architect or Solution Architect with a proven track record of playing a prominent role in establishing or transforming the enterprise architecture of a large energy organisation
  • Very strong conceptual, strategic thinking, problem solving, technical, and analytical skills and a thought leader in technology platforms, business process re-engineering and distributed architectures
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of extensive and broad experience in progressively advancing positions within
  • In depth understanding of a distribution and / or transmission network service provider’s operations and information flows, including Asset Management, Field Operations, Customer Management and Corporate functions
  • Superior organisational and prioritisation skills
  • A mature perspective on architecture and its role in a dynamic company with knowledge of all components of the enterprise information architecture and process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
  • Ability to translate business needs into requirements for technology architecture
