Project Manager

This is a unique and exciting time to be a part of the Network Maintenance, Planning & Delivery team at Western Power. We manage planned, as well as reactive works for distribution and transmission networks and play a key role in developing annual work plans in addition to responding to day-to-day queries and requests from various parts of the business. We’re looking for a Project Manager to join us on a Permanent Full Time contract at the Perth CBD Office.

 

Being a part of Network Maintenance, Planning and Delivery Function, you will partner with key stakeholders in shaping and delivering projects aligned to the wider business objectives. We collaborate with multiple teams to convert business strategies to deliverable works and assist in identifying and implementing operational improvement initiatives. We’ve worked on varied projects such as Kalbarri battery energy storage solutions, fibre optic network upgrades, network expansion projects, by joining us you will be a part of the future of the network.

 

In the Network Delivery Area specifically, we deliver various network driven projects and programs of work.  We achieve this through applying strong project management principles and by working as a team. About this role

 

This position will manage and deliver the Holistic Inspections Program which includes seven annual volumetric inspection projects.

 

As the Project Manager you will be accountable for the overall delivery of projects to agreed criteria, within commercially competitive standards for safety, cost, timeliness, quality, and scope and to the expectations of our customers and stakeholders. You will also be required to:

 

  • Delivering projects to the agreed scope, time and cost without compromising safety or quality
  • Execute all projects according to Western Powers Project Methodology, Standards, Processes and Governance framework
  • Ensure project financials are managed, maintained, forecasted and can be reported upon in terms of Capex and Opex
  • Report the status of the assigned projects pro-actively and on an ongoing basis to key stakeholders and Team Leader, and co-ordinate and manage the work of the project team through up to date resource plans and project schedules
  • Identify and actively manage project assumptions, risks, issues and dependencies associated with delivery ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are established and actively managed
  • Ensure project and quality assurance controls and gate checks are undertaken to minimise risk to delivery, costs and quality
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and establish effective stakeholder management plans
  • Ensure that all project documentation is completed appropriately and satisfies NFIT requirements
  • Support and build effective project teams across diverse Functions of the enterprise to deliver required project and program outcomes.

 


About you 

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Trade / Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering or Construction or 5-8 years demonstrable industry experience
  • Industry accreditation in project management, RegPM / PMI
  • At least 3 to 4 years’ demonstrated experience managing and delivering projects utilising industry standard project methodology such as PMBOK or Prince 2.
  • Ability to professionally engage stakeholders, both written and verbal, including presenting project progress to management
  • Self-motivated and the ability to manage time and prioritise effort
  • Industry experience with a working understanding of the electrical network and relevant work practices, policies and standards
  • Financial acumen including the ability to interpret financial data and reports. Utilise project knowledge to accurately budget and forecast expenditure and productivity
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
