Project Manager – Perth CBD – 12 Month Max Term Contract

 

Accountable for the end‑to‑end delivery of major distribution projects to commercially competitive standards across safety, cost, schedule, quality, and scope. This role leads the delivery of complex, high‑value, and high‑visibility projects that carry significant strategic and reputational importance for Western Power, ensuring outcomes meet the expectations of customers, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.

 

Your role in action

 

  • Deliver projects to the agreed scope, schedule, and cost, ensuring no compromise on safety or quality.
  • Perform budgeting, cost control, and forecasting to maintain financial accuracy and accountability, manage both Capex and Opex budgets.
  • Track financial performance and address variances early.
  • Review, update, and monitor project schedules, including contractor schedules, analyse discrepancies or delays, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present Project Status Reports to stakeholders and the Team Leader.
  • Coordinate and manage work across multiple internal teams and external contractors, conduct stakeholder analysis and develop effective stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
  • Identify and actively manage assumptions, risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the project, develop and implement mitigation strategies and monitor their effectiveness and escalate critical risks or issues when required.
  • Navigate projects with high levels of technological, reputational, safety, environmental, or contractual risk.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Trade / Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or extensive demonstrable industry experience.
  • Industry accreditation in project management, RegPM / PMI.
  • In addition to having at least 3 to 4 years’ demonstrated experience managing and delivering projects, a further 5 years extensive expertise in delivering complex programs / projects utilising industry standard project methodology such as PMBOK or Prince 2.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with project stakeholders and Senior leaders through superior communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and the ability to manage time and prioritise effort.
  • Interaction with others is primarily concerned with influencing, developing, motivating and changing behaviour.
  • Extensive financial acumen including the ability to interpret financial data and reports. Utilise project knowledge to accurately budget and forecast expenditure and productivity.
  • Highly developed negotiation and conflict management skills.
