We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Protection Engineer at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.


About this role

 

As the Protection Engineer you will be required to develop and apply engineering knowledge and skills in delivering competitive design, settings, estimating, project/contract management and consulting products and services associated with power system protection and automatic control.

Technical Competencies:

  • Undertake specialist technical and engineering work as outlined under the position purpose;
  • Deliver services to commercially competitive standards for technical excellence, safety, environmental quality, cost and customer satisfaction;
  • Operate commercially and competitively in meeting quality, time and budget standards;
  • Investigate, recommend and adopt industry best practice for client or work areas;
  • Prepare detailed scopes and estimates for the protection component of projects;
  • Prepare specifications, analyse tenders, manage contracts and initiate purchases of protection equipment;
  • Undertake system modelling and fault studies;
  • Determine CT/VT performance requirements; and
  • Comply with all legal and contracting requirements.


About you 

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Degree in electrical engineering recognised by Engineers Australia as satisfying the academic requirements for appointment as a professional engineer.
  • At least 4 -6 years’ experience in a multi-disciplined power engineering role in the Networks business
  • Sound knowledge of principles of transmission and distribution protection and automatic control design and estimating processes
  • Sound knowledge of Power system primary and secondary facilities
  • Sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures associated with power system protection and automatic control
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
