SCADA Engineering Technician – Permanent Full Time – Perth Office

 

Join Western Power’s Network Operations team and power the evolution of energy systems.

 

We are seeking a skilled SCADA professional to ensure the reliability, accuracy and security of SCADA systems while adhering to best practise.  You will play a key role in incident prevention, SCADA commissioning (in Master Station) and driving continuous process improvement. You will also provide technical guidance and support to the team, fostering their development and growth.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Manage SCADA works being properly commissioned in Master Stations and meet project schedule.
  • Developing own skills and technical expertise and accepting coaching where required
  • Providing technical direction, coaching and training to share knowledge and learning with the team to support their professional development.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA database to industry standard.
  • Contribute and participate in process improvement in SCADA undertaken individually or as part of a team. This includes suggesting key areas for functional development and the implementation of new functionality. 

 

What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Qualified in Electrical Trade or Diploma in Engineering with related power industry or control system background
  • At least 7 to 10 years sound industry experience and knowledge of SCADA installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations practices and procedures
  • Detailed understanding and working knowledge of SCADA system designs and configurations
  • Computer literate - particularly with complex networked or distributed systems
  • Detailed knowledge of the database and display configuration of the SCADA Systems
  • Familiarity with electrical transmission and distribution networks and equipment as well as electrical network control room operations
  • Experienced in construction, maintenance and operation of electrical networks
  • Knowledgeable in safe operating and network access practices
  • Strong orientation towards engineering & technical excellence
