Senior Access Consultant

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the end-to-end process of major customer applications through to project completion, ensuring connections to the South-West Interconnected Network. This role requires strong commercial acumen, contract negotiation expertise, and exceptional stakeholder and escalation management skills. The successful candidate will manage commercial risks, ensuring compliance with the Electricity Network Access Code and Applications Queuing Policy. 

 

Within the Major Customer Decarbonisation function, we are tasked with identifying and building probability of large-scale customer funded loads, renewable generators and battery storage to connect to our network. This is critical in enabling achievement of the WA state Governments decarbonisation target. 

 

Your Role in Action   

 

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective and timely management of contracts relating to major customer transmission connections.  

  • Ensure appropriate and robust commercial solutions for access applications which are conscious of risk implications and financial risk in customer applications appropriately mitigated. 

  • Being accountable for shaping the corporate image of Western Power being safe, reliable and efficient for our access customers in terms of dependable service and innovative solutions during contract negotiations. 

  • Being responsible and accountable for the production and management of accurate capital budget requirements associated with access projects. 

  • Appropriate escalation of customer issues within the business. 

  • Identifying and evaluating, including via a risk management framework, the impacts of access contracts on Western Power’s operations. 

  • Apply a balanced approach to all issues affecting Access Solutions. Issues are generally complex and rarely have one solution for all situations. The incumbent must be able to think and act broadly across the issues faced. 

  • Ensure all systems are kept up to date and accurate as required to reflect project status, financial information and customer relationship. 

 

What Makes You a Great Fit  

 

  • Extensive and broad understanding of project management frameworks. 

  • Demonstrable experience in complex contract and financial negotiations in an infrastructure environment. 

  • Consultative selling within a sophisticated customer portfolio. 

  • A comprehensive and broad understanding of risk, commercial and compliance management. 

  • A good understanding of operating within a regulatory framework. 

  • Ability to make objective and balanced recommendations when dealing with competing demands. 

  • Strong ability to prioritise competing demands and manage expectations appropriately. 

  • Ability to build and maintain excellent internal and external relationships at a senior level. 

  • Superior communication skills, including written. 

  • High level negotiating skills.
