Senior Access Contract Advisor

 

This position works within Western Power’s Energy Transition and Sustainability Business and is accountable for the provision of contractual advice and support in connection with Major Customer access to the Western Power Network. The Senior Access Contract Advisor provides expert advice and support to Access Solutions project sponsors in negotiating complex contracts for network access. This role is key in managing relationships between Access Solutions, Group Commercial, Treasury, and Legal teams, ensuring robust contract negotiations for multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects. The position influences regulatory policy development, drives the business input into key policies, and ensures the delivery of commercial solutions that align with Western Power’s values and objectives. The incumbent will apply a balanced approach to complex issues, ensuring effective and timely contract management for major customer connections.

 

Your Role in Action  

 

  • Preparing and maintaining standard contracts concerning Major Customer connections to the Western Power Network.
  • Playing a lead role in reviewing and negotiating Customer departures in relation to Western Power’s standard network access contacts.
  • Providing training and guidance to team members administering and managing Western Power’s standard network access contracts;
  • Developing and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders;liaising and engaging with insurance, legal and regulatory functions as required to effectively manage Customer contract negotiation and support governance assurance; and
  • Identifying and promoting contractually balanced commercial outcomes supporting investment in, and connection to, the Western Power Network.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline is essential
  • A comprehensive and broad understanding of risk, commercial and compliance management
  • A good understanding of operating within a regulatory framework
  • High level, demonstrable experience in complex contract and financial negotiations in an infrastructure environment Ability to make objective and balanced recommendations when dealing with competing demands
  • Strong ability to prioritise competing demands and manage expectations appropriately
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent internal and external relationships at a senior level
  • High level communication skills
  • High level negotiating and influencing skills
