Senior Assessment & Approvals Specialist – Perth CBD – Maximum Term 24 Months
Join our Engineering & Design team and play a key role in shaping the future of our network. We’re looking for a strategic thinker to influence Environmental and Third-party Approvals to support safety outcomes, ensuring the effective delivery of projects while minimising risks. Your Role in Action
- Influence the development of strategic network plans and designs, and network design standards to improve SEQT outcomes and minimize associated risks.
- Support the business in assessing and influencing changes to regulatory or external requirements impacting network SEQT outcomes and third-party approvals.
- Lead the development and implementation of SEQT arrangements for network access related to construction, maintenance, and inspection (including the Public Impact Strategy and SEQT in Design Requirements)
- Assist in preparing long-term network strategies to ensure early identification and integration of SEQT requirements and third-party approvals.
- Influence and prioritize Western Power’s near-term plan meet regulatory commitments.
- Ensure safe outcomes are incorporated into integrated SEQT impact assessments and the Network Design Plans.
- Assess the fiscal impact of SEQT design requirements in network development plans and asset strategies.
- Develop relationships with external stakeholders to ensure appropriate placement of network assets in line with objectives.
- Influence State and Local authorities and third party utilities to promote safe, reliable, and affordable outcomes for the network and communities
- Monitor and implement improvements to SEQT and third party arrangement and requirements to ensure continuous improvement of as part of a closed loop feedback process
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise in relation to environment, heritage and urban and regional planning advice to the SEQT Function and broader business
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, science, urban and regional planning, law or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in environment, heritage and statutory planning approvals
- Experience in Public and environmental safety matters and the development of risk reducing performance improvement strategies
- Proven ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders in relation to Environmental Approvals and third party outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement
- Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic environment and to work autonomously
- Experience in delivering large complex business wide improvement strategies
- A sound understanding of the regulations and arrangements associated with infrastructure planning, land development, environmental assessments, and heritage and land access
