We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Automation Engineering Technician at Perth Office CBD, on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

 


About this role

 

As the Senior Automation Engineering Technician, you will be required to carry out high level complex SCADA design, implementation and commissioning activities demonstrating technical leadership in required discipline. To provide mentoring and facilitate training of new team members. You will also be required to:

The incumbent is expected to play a part in:

  • Providing direction, coaching, and training to SCADA Design Engineers, Network Officers and contractors, and the creation of all relevant materials.
  • Managing own performance and improving personal effectiveness.

 

Scheduling

The incumbent is expected to:

  • Manage own work while making the best use of assigned resources to meet planned outputs.
  • Provide scheduling plans or advice to support the work of other Front-Line employees or contractors.
  • Within assigned TIRR, provide coordination and prescribing to other Front-Line employees and or contractors to achieve specific assigned projects or programs of work;
  • Coordinate or support technical work across other work groups.
  • Project management and coordination activities, when required.

 

Technical 

Technical accountabilities are as follows:

  • To carry out high level complex SCADA design, implementation and commissioning activities demonstrating technical leadership
  • Plan, coordinate or carry out activities as required associated with design, configuration, modification, installation, commissioning and operation of SCADA equipment and systems.
  • Carry out specialist technical tasks.
  • Assist in developing and improving new/existing work practices, processes, and documentation.
  • Deliver services to commercially competitive standards for technical excellence, safety, environmental quality, and cost and customer satisfaction.
  • Operate commercially and competitively in meeting quality, time, and budget standards.
  • Drive value in the business and ensure delivery of risk-managed outputs.
  • Investigate, recommend, and adopt industry best practice.
  • Comply with all legal requirements.

 


About you

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Minimum: An electrical worker’s license and/or qualifications in relevant disciplines similar to a AQF6 (Advanced Diploma) or equivalent training (including extensive on-job training)
  • At least 6 to 7 + years solid experience and knowledge and experience of SCADA installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures.
  • Detailed understanding and working knowledge of SCADA system designs, SCADA RTU configuration, PLC configuration, HMI configuration, drafting and estimating practices and procedures.
  • Project management and documentation.
  • Continuous improvement, training, and coaching techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of data management systems, SCADA principals and protocols.
  • Sound knowledge of primary and secondary equipment used in Transmission and Distribution Substations, including power systems and protection schemes.
  • Proficiency in the IT tools used for the job.
  • Relevant Australian Standards associated with SCADA system design and drafting in a transmission substation environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of SCADA installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures.
