Senior Category & Contracts Specialist

We're looking for a skilled Senior Category & Contract Specialist to join our team and support Western Power’s Housing Growth Program. In this 12-month fixed-term opportunity, you’ll lead critical sourcing events, establish a supplier panel using a schedule of rates, and drive innovative incentivisation strategies. This is your chance to directly influence how we deliver reliable electricity to growing communities across the state.
Your Role in Action
- Shape the future of our Housing Growth Program by establishing long-term commercial strategies that drive value across category and contract management, supplier performance, and pricing.
- Play a key role in building a trusted supplier panel using a schedule of rates—laying the foundation for reliable, scalable service delivery.
- Design smart incentivisation strategies that bring out the best in our vendor partnerships and drive mutual success.
- Be a strategic influencer, working closely with stakeholders to lead impactful conversations and guide decisions that create real business outcomes for Western Power
- Lead the charge on major sourcing events—from negotiation to implementation—ensuring we secure the best deals and outcomes.
- Harness the power of data to track performance, support decision-making, and continuously improve.
- Drive efficiency and innovation through new commercial models, streamlining processes, and championing business improvement initiatives.
- Ensure strong commercial governance, overseeing spend, compliance, and contract performance to protect and grow our business.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Proven expertise in developing and executing category and contract strategies that deliver measurable value.
- Solid experience in the construction industry, with a deep understanding of its unique commercial and operational challenges.
- Hands-on experience working with schedule of rates and bills of quantities in supplier contracts.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully leading complex sourcing events.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial models, including the design and implementation of incentivisation strategies.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills—able to communicate with influence and adapt your approach across diverse audiences.
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g. Procurement, Business, Commerce), or equivalent experience that demonstrates your capability.
