Senior Community Engagement Specialist – 12 Month Fixed Term – Perth CBD
We have an exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Senior Community Engagement Specialist to play a key role in shaping how Western Power connects with communities, customers, and stakeholders across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
From essential network upgrades to innovative energy solutions, you'll develop and deliver strategic engagement programs that build trust, strengthen relationships, and create positive outcomes for both the community and the business. Your Role in Action
- Lead the development and execution of strategic community and stakeholder engagement plans that support the successful delivery of Western Power's infrastructure, maintenance, and capacity expansion projects.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with communities, customers, local government, project partners, and other key stakeholders, fostering trust, transparency, and positive engagement outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide expert engagement and communications advice to project teams and leaders, ensuring community and stakeholder considerations are embedded into project planning, decision-making, and delivery activities.
- Design and deliver impactful engagement and communication initiatives across a range of channels, including community consultation, stakeholder meetings, events, digital platforms, social media, project communications, and public awareness campaigns.
- Champion innovative and customer-focused engagement approaches that enhance participation, strengthen community understanding, and support Western Power's social licence to operate across diverse and often complex project environments.
- Act as a trusted advisor on stakeholder and community issues, managing sensitive and high-profile matters, responding to escalated concerns, and providing strategic guidance on contentious projects and emerging risks.
- Collaborate across the organisation to advocate for community perspectives, influence project outcomes, and build strong cross-functional partnerships that deliver consistent and effective stakeholder experiences.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on engagement outcomes, stakeholder sentiment, project risks, and lessons learned, using insights and data to drive continuous improvement, strengthen organisational capability, and enhance Western Power's reputation within the communities we serve.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, communications, or a related field, with the ability to build trust and create meaningful connections across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proven success delivering best-practice engagement and communications strategies for complex, high-profile, or infrastructure-related projects, balancing community needs with business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of stakeholder and community engagement principles, including the ability to apply contemporary frameworks and approaches to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, consultation, and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage, negotiate, and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- A naturally curious and relationship-driven people person who enjoys getting to know different stakeholders, learning how a business operates, and building strong partnerships that deliver positive outcomes.
- A highly empathetic and collaborative approach, with outstanding listening skills and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations, manage competing perspectives, and foster productive relationships.
- Relevant qualifications in Communications, Community Engagement, Marketing, Social Sciences, Social Planning, or a related discipline are highly regarded.
