We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Distribution Design Engineer at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

 


About this role

 

As the Senior Distribution Design Engineer, you will be required to undertake engineering designs associated with Western Power’s Distribution Network. You will conduct detailed engineering investigations and manage engineering information. You will also lead technical development and process improvements.
 

  • Produce and/or check complex designs and estimates for projects encompassing materials and labour for work associated with the Distribution Network.
  • Undertaking complex engineering investigations and lead process improvements.
  • Introduce leading-edge technology and development of new distribution design and construction standards through providing technical subject matter expert guidance, field support, and expertise.
  • Provide engineering support across other work teams in the form of subject matter expertise relating to the integration of distribution assets into the network.
  • Undertake contract administration to ensure contractor compliance to Western Power requirements. This will include reviewing outsourced designs and contractor quality and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all Western Power and obligatory standards with a strong focus on safety in design.
  • Schedule and plan own daily and weekly allocated work to meet agreed targets.
  • Manage queries raised by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide training, mentoring and coaching within the team.


About you

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Preferably 8 – 10 years’ experience in a utility engineering company.
  • Must possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Eligible for corporate membership of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
  • An extensive knowledge of electrical utility distribution design, standards, policies and procedures

              - Distribution overhead and underground utility network design – up to 33kV.

              - Distribution network equipment/plant componentry and general assembly

              - Sound knowledge of the interactions of related disciplines impacting on distribution design, including civil/structural issues and environmental issues.

              - Sound understanding of distribution construction practices and processes.

  • Takes initiative to identify innovative new methods, processes or systems.
  • Provide engineering and technical leadership.
  • Have ability to complete project/assignment within specific guidelines.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Have skill in developing and maintaining work standards.
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
