Senior Employee Relations Consultant – 12 months Max Term Full-time /Perth CBD Office 

 

Join Western Power as a Senior Employee Relations Consultant and provide expert guidance on complex employee and industrial relations matters. Influence ER/IR policy and strategy, support organisational change, facilitate union engagement, and ensure compliance with legislation and Enterprise Agreements. Collaborate with HR colleagues and business stakeholders to foster positive employee relations, enhance performance and commercial sustainability, and support a respectful, high-performing workplace culture. 

 

Your Role in Action   

  • Provide expert ER/IR advice and guidance on industrial frameworks, relevant legislation, and the interpretation and application of enterprise agreements and industrial instruments to ensure compliance and support positive workplace outcomes.
  • Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders on employee and industrial relations matters, including claims to Fair Work and other external agencies, union disputes, and resolution of complex ER/IR issues. 
  • Lead or contribute as a subject matter expert on internal projects and initiatives, ensuring ER/IR considerations are effectively integrated.
  • Play a key role in preparing, coordinating, and delivering enterprise agreement negotiations, including documentation, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Mentor and support colleagues to build capability and foster a culture of collaboration and learning.  

 

What Makes You a Great Fit  

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline. 

  • Extensive experience in employee and industrial relations within unionised and/or operational environments, including enterprise agreement negotiations and dispute resolution.

  • Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of Australian industrial laws, enterprise agreements, and the current industrial landscape.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, producing clear, accurate documentation that informs decision-making, ensures compliance, and supports effective record-keeping and business outcomes.

  • Highly developed interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.

  • Proven capability in negotiation, consultation, and conflict management to achieve practical and sustainable outcomes.

  • Ability to adapt and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and compliance.

  • Experience working in large, complex organisations, demonstrating resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities.
