We have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Ergonomist to provide both strategic and technical leadership in applying Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) across our Western Power operations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our systems, environments, and equipment are designed and maintained to optimise human performance, safety, and well-being.

Bringing your expertise and practical insight, you’ll influence design and operational decisions across the entire asset lifecycle—from concept development through to post-installation review—with a focus on strengthening the connection between people, technology, and the work environment.

Your Role in Action

  • Lead the integration of Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) principles into asset design, operations, and workplace environments to meet safety, performance, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct HFE assessments across all project stages-from concept and detailed design to testing and operational review.
  • Develop practical, evidence-based ergonomic solutions to reduce injury risk and enhance user experience, comfort, and safety.
  • Drive cross-functional projects that minimise musculoskeletal risks and improve human performance.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and SHE teams to embed HFE into project planning, execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply HFE theory, data, and modelling to complex challenges, optimising well-being and reducing high-frequency or high-severity incidents.
  • Deliver training, workshops, and guidance materials to build organisational HFE capability.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and internal governance frameworks.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Extensive  and demonstrated years’ experience applying HFE in complex industrial or utility environments.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in human factors, ergonomics, or a related field.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across technical and operational teams.
  • Proficiency in ergonomic assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to impact change, including influencing without authority; lead from the front, demonstrate "what best practice looks like"
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Be design-driven, using data analysis and assessment to provide realistic recommendations and actions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
