Senior Project Development Specialist – Permanent Full Time / Perth CBD
Are you an experienced Senior Project Development Specialist ready to take on complex, high-value projects within the energy sector?
We’re seeking a dedicated professional with a proven track record in managing large-scale projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and building strong relationships with major customers. Your expertise in stakeholder engagement, balancing competing priorities, and driving project delivery within strict deadlines will be key to your success in this role.
You'll gain exposure to concepts and practices that are at the technical, commercial, and regulatory forefront of Western Australia’s transforming energy landscape, while helping develop ambitious renewable energy projects for the benefit of the Western Australian community and electricity consumers.
As a Senior Project Development Specialist, you will manage the development of complex, high-value projects that provide major customers with access to the network. With responsibility for co-ordinating scoping and planning activities, you will lead cross-functional joint planning teams to develop cost-effective solutions to customer requirements.
You will develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure project risks are mitigated, challenges are resolved, and schedules are maintained.
In preparation for project execution, you will initiate investments in accordance with Western Power’s Investment Governance Framework and prepare business cases to justify investment decisions based on sound assessment of relevant financial, commercial, regulatory and risk considerations.
Your Role in Action
- Coordinate and lead cross-functional joint planning teams to deliver commercially justifiable investment proposals with a collaborative decision-making approach.
- Develop and collate robust documentation to support and justify investment decisions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely framing of decisions and contracts for complex projects, such as major customer connections and line relocations.
- Be accountable for producing and managing accurate capital budget requirements associated with complex projects.
- Ensure robust and commercially sound solutions, assessing risks and implications thoroughly.
- Produce concise and rigorous business cases to support customer applications or network solutions.
- Apply a broad and balanced approach to solving complex issues affecting Grid Transformation, recognizing that solutions often require flexibility and tailored approaches.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate systems reflecting project status, financial information, and customer relationships.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline
- Good understanding of project management frameworks and experience in managing projects.
- A comprehensive and broad understanding of risk, commercial and compliance management
- A good understanding of operating within a regulatory framework
- Superior communication skills, including written skills to construct high level business cases
- Previous sound Projection Management experience with a good understanding of project management frameworks is required
- Ability to build and maintain excellent internal and external relationships at a senior level
- Post-graduate qualification in Project Management, Business, or a relevant discipline – desirable
