We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer - Automation Projects at Western Power Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

 


About this role

 

As the Senior Project Engineer you will be accountable for undertaking complex program/project planning and engage in relevant activities for the successful outsourcing of engineering and design work associated with Western Power or third-party facilities connected to the Network.

 

To assist in relevant project selection, conduct engineering investigations and to lead process improvements where required.

Scheduling

  • Schedule, plan and track outsourced project activities to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Provide support to project management plans
  • Support the work of team members.

Technical

  • Undertaking complex program/project planning and engage in relevant activities for the successful outsourcing of engineering and design work associated with Western Power or third-party facilities connected to the Network.
  • Develop technical Scope of Work (SoW) for outsourced contracts.
  • Manage and maintain the technical queries register.
  • Manage the external consultants to ensure compliance with drafting standards, applicable engineering codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Perform data extraction for projects in applicable computer systems.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to resolve project issues and ensure the success delivery of the project.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members in the form of specialist advice on outsourced projects.
  • Support the team in ensuring the external consultants submit deliverables that are fit for purpose and to a high quality.
  • Ensure the external consultants are completing the work within the agreed project budget and seeking approvals for variations where necessary.
  • Assist with approving of invoices from external consultants.
  • Identify, analyse, and develop improvements to procedures and processes.

 


About you 

 

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

 

  • Must possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Eligible for corporate membership of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
  • At least 8 to 10 years’ extensive experience in an engineering discipline, preferably within a utility engineering company.
  • A sound knowledge of distribution standards, policies and procedures is required. This might include the following depending on requirements.
  • Distribution substation design, drafting
  • Power system primary plant and secondary plant/systems.
  • Complex engineering program development, planning, and designs
  • Sound understanding of the interactions of related disciplines impacting on distribution design, including civil/structural issues and environmental issues.
  • Sound understanding of distribution construction practices and processes.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to engage with external consultant and stakeholders
