Senior Project Manager – Driver and Vehicle Safety – 12 months Fixed-Term Contract – Immediate Start
Western Power is standing up a cross-functional project team to drive a high priority safety project for the organisation. Jointly sponsored by our Health, Safety and Environment and Operations leadership and delivered through the People Portfolio Management Office, this project will bring together work currently underway across multiple functions and translate it into clear, coordinated action.
This role provides the project management leadership needed to stand the team up at pace, coordinate contributions from across the business, and deliver quality data, insights and recommendations to sponsors. It is a fixed-term contract opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager who is available to start immediately and able to commit fully to the project for its duration.
This is a high-visibility piece of work with direct relevance to how Western Power protects its people, and an opportunity to influence outcomes that matter.
Your Role in Action
- Stand the project up at pace – defining scope, deliverables, timeframes, governance and team structure in the early weeks
- Coordinate contributions from across Fleet, Safety, HR, Data, People Capability and Operations to bring disparate workstreams into a single, coherent program
- Manage stakeholder engagement with joint sponsors, executives and functional leads, providing clear and timely updates
- Integrate findings from a separately commissioned external safety investigation into the project’s outputs (this role does not conduct the investigation)
- Drive quality data and insights to underpin decisions and recommendations
- Apply Western Power’s project management methodology, governance and reporting standards through the People PMO
- Identify, monitor and actively manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
- Report progress to sponsors and the Portfolio Management Office on an agreed cadence
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Industry accreditation in project management, either PMBOK®, Prince2™, MSP™ or RegPM.
- Extensive experience as a Project Manager (8+ years), with a track record of delivering complex, time-critical, cross-functional projects
- Extensive knowledge within program / project management environment or related discipline requiring an understanding of project management methodologies, practices and principles
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills – comfortable engaging at all levels, from Executive to frontline, and across multiple disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a whole-of-organisation level while moving at pace
- Strong experience of planning, organising and integrating resources, budgetary and work program planning, resource management, communication and quality assurance
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to translate complex inputs into clear, actionable deliverables
- Available to start immediately and able to commit fully to the project for its duration
- Experience in safety, operations, fleet or related domains is highly regarded but not essential
