Senior Project Managers – Permanent & 20 Month Max Term Contracts - Perth CBD 

 

These positions are accountable for the delivery of assigned projects within the Network Project Delivery – Transmission, SCADA & Telecommunications area. The roles ensure a commitment for safety, scope, quality, schedule and financial performance are effectively managed in accordance with Western Power’s project management and investment governance requirements. 

 

These positions manage projects of significant complexity, value, visibility and reputational impact, working closely with the Team Leader to maintain strong delivery discipline, provide transparent performance reporting and proactively resolve or escalate risks, constraints and emerging issues. 

 

We will be hiring for two (2) positions - Permanent and a 20-month max term Contract / Secondment.  

  

Your Role in Action   

  

  • Lead the delivery of complex assigned projects to agreed safety, scope, quality, schedule and financial commitments. 

  • Establish projects for successful execution, ensuring scope, delivery strategies, controls, risks, interfaces, resource requirements and stakeholder expectations are clearly defined and understood. 

  • Manage projects in accordance with Western Power’s project management and investment governance frameworks, systems, controls and processes, including required assurance activities and gate reviews. 

  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, resource plans, budgets and forecasts, with accurate and timely reporting of capital and operating expenditure, productivity and delivery performance. 

  • Proactively identify and manage project assumptions, risks, issues, dependencies and delivery constraints, implementing effective mitigation strategies and escalating material matters to the Team Leader where required. 

  • Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams and delivery partners, aligning priorities and resources to achieve agreed project outcomes. 

  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting open communication, collaboration and timely resolution of delivery issues. 

  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership through active engagement with project teams, worksites and delivery partners, without compromising quality or delivery outcomes. 

  • Support the Team Leader in driving consistent project delivery, standardisation, continuous improvement and strong governance discipline across the area. 

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit  

 

  • Trade / Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering or Construction or solid demonstrable industry experience. 

  • Industry accreditation in project management, RegPM / PMI. 

  • Extensive experience successfully managing and delivering complex, high-value projects using recognised project management methodologies and governance frameworks. 

  • Strong project management knowledge and experience within an electrical utility, infrastructure or similarly complex delivery environment, with an understanding of the technical disciplines that contribute to successful project delivery. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and delivery partners, influence outcomes and maintain accountability without direct line-management authority. 

  • Extensive financial and commercial acumen, including the ability to interpret financial data, manage budgets and accurately forecast expenditure and productivity. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise reporting and communicate complex matters to senior leaders and stakeholders. 

  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict-management skills. 

  • Self-motivated, organised and able to prioritise competing demands while maintaining strong safety, governance and delivery discipline.
