Play a critical role in shaping Western Australia’s transmission network of the future. As Senior Transmission Sponsor, you’ll provide senior oversight and sponsorship across Western Power’s Transmission investment portfolios, ensuring capital is delivered efficiently, governance is robust, and programs are delivered in line with asset condition, regulatory requirements and delivery realities.

Your Role in Action

As Senior Transmission Sponsor, you are accountable for monitoring the efficient and effective execution of Transmission OPEX, Discrete CAPEX and Volumetric CAPEX programs. Operating on a rolling mid‑term (approximately two‑year) planning horizon, you will ensure investment decisions and works programs remain accurate, defensible and reflective of current asset condition, funding constraints and delivery performance.

This role plays a critical governance and sponsorship function, bridging Asset Planning, Finance and delivery teams to ensure strong project controls, reliable forecasting, and disciplined investment management across the transmission asset base.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure projects deliver the value approved in Business Cases through strong sponsorship practices, including performance tracking, validation of outcomes, and management of scope, cost and schedule changes.
  • Manage and maintain the rolling biannual Transmission asset plan, ensuring rebuild, refurbishment and ancillary works accurately reflect asset condition, remnant life forecasts and delivery status.
  • Oversee monthly WIP, spend and volume tracking, ensuring forecasts and reporting are current, reliable and reflective of actual program performance, with regular and on‑demand reporting as required.
  • Maintain oversight of key investment and delivery data within enterprise systems (including P6, OPPM and Ellipse), supporting data accuracy, auditability and a single source of truth.
  • Coordinate project governance and change control across Gateway stages (G3–G6), working closely with Asset Planning, Finance and delivery functions.
  • Establish and manage project controls to monitor and reconcile variances in scope, timing and cost across the project lifecycle, including supporting funding reallocation where required.
  • Lead the planning and completion of ancillary works under the Transmission Discrete CAPEX portfolio.
  • Participate in routine forecasting processes and support informed decision‑making across Transmission portfolios.
  • Ensure benefits realisation reporting, investment proposals and governance documentation are high quality, evidence‑based and capable of withstanding regulatory and commercial scrutiny.
  • Contribute to and lead cross‑functional planning and governance forums, demonstrating a collaborative and disciplined approach to resolving investment, funding and delivery challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement of investment governance frameworks, systems and processes to strengthen transparency, assurance and delivery confidence.
