Senior Workforce Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Workforce Specialist – Dangerous & Hazardous Goods, to lead the development and implementation of proactive Safety, Environment, Quality and Training programs, providing insight and raising awareness to topical risks in order to support the business in delivering great safety, health, environment and quality performance through effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
Your Role in Action
- Identification of hazards in operational work areas and effective communication of risk and controls with the operational teams
- Support and communicate transparently with operational team on industry best practice relating to Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substance management.
- Ensure collaboration across all business units, functions, and activities to ensure a consistent approach relating to Dangerous Goods management and adherence with regulatory compliance.
- Take a lead role in supporting the business to develop practical and fit for purpose solutions to address Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substance compliance issues. This will encompass workforce safety, health and environment hazards and risks associated with workforce activities.
- Drive improved Safety, Health and Environment outcomes and behavioural change though effective engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders across the business.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety, health and hygiene protocols specifically related to the handling, storage, and transportation of dangerous goods for Western Power
What Makes You a Great Fit
- A seasoned professional with extensive experience and knowledge in Work, Health & Safety Operations and WHS Risk Management, for a large multi-disciplinary workforce ideally in a complex industrial or operation environment.
- Demonstrated experience in a role related to Dangerous Goods regulatory compliance and management.
- Strong communication, analytical and report writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability in strategy planning and operational safety and environmental strategy.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated success in building & maintaining strong working relationships at all levels of an organisation.
- Knowledge of safety, health and environment regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience working on policies, procedures and programs related to dangerous goods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science or related discipline.
