Operational Assurance Team Leader – Permanent – South Metro Depot

 

This role is responsible for managing a team of technical assurance personnel (operational and professional) who ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of field, office and contractor activities across Operational Maintenance. The role oversees that assurance practices are consistently applied, that all applicable Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management requirements are met, and that Western Power’s frameworks, policies, and procedures are effectively implemented in the field.

 

This role is responsible for developing and executing an effective assurance plan and for providing technical leadership and oversight of  inspections, and governance activities that help identify risks and enable safe and reliable outcomes. Through proactive engagement and clear accountability, this role supports successful delivery of the assurance plan across Asset Operations and contributes to the continuous improvement of Western Power’s operational performance

 

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. Your Role in Action  

 

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities to the assurance team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to strengthen assurance alignment across the function andorganisation.
  • Lead the development and ensure the efficient delivery of the Operational WHS Due Diligence annual and project‑specific assurance plans, ensuring the effectiveness of quality and assurance activities to support operational risk management, and ensure robust BCP (Business Continuity Plan) assurance, including monitoring compliance and identifying gaps.
  • Oversee the execution of assurance activities to ensure alignment with organisational standards, risk priorities, and compliance expectations, including the scheduling of inspections and quality assurance activities, and the oversight of field‑based assurance tasks such as site inspections and verification activities.
  • Coordinate desktop assurance activities, ensuring documentation and processes meet required standards.
  • Conduct or oversee field-based assurance activities related to supplier performance and contract execution.
  • Support stakeholders by providing assurance insights, reporting, and risk-based recommendations.

 

 What Makes You a Great Fit 

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Quality, Engineering, Business, Assurance, or related field.
  • A seasoned professional with demonstrated experience in assurance, auditing, quality management, or similar roles
  • Strong business acumen, comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills, and exposure to risk management,
  • compliance, and governance processes
  • Demonstrated people management skills and ability to engage and drive teams to produce effective outcomes which meet desired timeframes
  • Strong communications and written skills with a high level of negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience in leading and managing teams
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’
