About this role

 

We have a key senior leadership opportunity for an Area Manager – Operations East, responsible for leading and managing a large technically skilled, geographically diverse and safety orientated workforce to competently execute all maintenance and repair work within the Eastern regional area of the Southwest Interconnective Network (SWIN). This role is critical in providing emergency response when required to ensure the safety of emergency services, the public and security of Western Power’s assets.

 

Your role in Action

 

As the Area Manager - Operations East you will:

 

  • Be accountable for delivering the works program using internal resources, ensuring the right resources are deployed to the right place at the right time to maximise delivery efficiencies.
  • Lead employees in accordance with Western Power’s policies and procedures, working with HR Business Partners to promote a positive place of work and future talent.
  • Identify areas of safety exposure and recommend and implement strategies to minimise exposure, including incident investigations and key learnings.
  • Contribute to and support the safety, health, environmental & community programs.
  • Establish and monitor compliance to work processes that are consistent with Western Power policy and operational standards.
  • Operate within existing capital and operating budgets.
  • Skilled in leading a geographically diverse team to achieve common objectives.

  • You will possess strong leadership skills with the ability to think strategically, a collaborative approach with the ability to build effective partnerships as well as manage and motivate a service delivery-oriented team in a unionised environment.
  • An understanding of risk and compliance management and its application in the business.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a safe working environment with a proven safety record within an industrial environment.
  • A minimum of 10 years technical experience in the electricity business.
  • An understanding of risk and compliance management and its application in the business.
  • A willingness to travel across the area, covering the distance from Perth to Kalgoorlie and down to Katanning on a regular basis.
