Communications Technician
As a Communications Technician, you will be required to apply specialist telecommunications technical knowledge and skills gained in the maintenance, operations, installation, commissioning and testing of Western Power telecommunications facilities / assets.
Your Role in Action
- Provide, develop, design and research communications activities, prepare new product assessment reports and or conduct training and competency evaluations of field-based employees as required.
- Take personal accountability for safety in the work environment and ensure safe work practises are followed and a safe work environment maintained.
- Perform complex technical tasks for Communications networks
- Undertake installation, configuration, and commissioning of communications facilities on the Western Power Communications Network
- Evaluate, analyse, test and report on new or modified equipment or facilities in meeting specified performance criteria
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Diploma in Electrotechnology / Electronics / Telecommunications or Radio / telecommunications Trade Certificate
- At least 7+ years demonstrated technical experience in a telecommunications or related industry
- Thorough knowledge of the system design for two or more of the following.
- Fixed & Mobile Radio (VHF-SHF)
- Cable Carrier Systems (Metallic/Optical Fiber)
- MUX Networks
- Ethernet Networks
- High Speed Digital Transmission
- Power Line Carrier systems
- Tele protection systems
- Supervisory systems
- 3G/LTE and TCP/IP
- MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access. Ellipse and scheduling/work management systems
