Communications Technician - Permanent Full Time – South Metro Depot

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Technician to join our team on a Permanent Full Time basic.

 

As a Communication Technician you will be required to provide underlying technical expertise in providing tactical support and assistance to the SCADA & Communication Systems teams for the planning, design, installation, commissioning of all Western Power’s & Customer SCADA & Communication Systems.

 

This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters. With the latest infrastructure and technology, the depot empowers all employees to create that perfect work-life balance whilst operating in an inclusive and diverse workplace.

 

Your Role in Action

 

  • Provide technical expertise, tactical support, and assistance to the SCADA & Communication Systems teams.for the planning, design, installation, commissioning of all Western Power’s & Customer SCADA & Communication Systems.
  • Be customer focused and take a whole of company view in keeping with the company’s values, codes, and standards.
  • Be a team player and a role model to less experienced Communications Technicians.
  • Be innovative and use appropriate technology to improve and manage the Communications Networks.

 

What Makes You a Great Fit

 

  • Cert III in Electrotechnology / Electronics / Telecommunications or equivalent Trade Certificate.
  • preferably 1 to 2 years technical experience in the SCADA or Telecommunications industry.
  • Knowledge of SCADA & Telecommunications installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures.
  • Prior project, contract and maintenance management systems and tools experience.
  • The Communications Technician would be required when experienced to be able to attend to faults after normal working hours and to be part of a roster system shared between experienced Communications Technicians.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access. MIMS and scheduling/work management systems.
